FRANCESCO BARATTA (Genoa c. 1805 - 1835) DRAPED FEMALE FIGURE
Black chalk on grey paper, watermark 'BRUZZO'; 400 x 223 mm. PROVENANCE: Carlo Prayer, Lugt 2044; Bernasconi family.
The drawing was originally part of a group owned by Carlo Prayer (1826-1900) and attributed by him to Francesco Baratta. Baratta studied in Rome under Vincenzo Camuccini. He was appointed to the chair of painting at the Genoese Accademia in 1827. He worked mainly in Genoa.
