Aroldo Bellini exhibited his first works as a student of fine arts in his native town. Since 1931 the artist created thirteen marble sculptures for the Stadio dei Marmi, in the Foro Italico, Rome. For the Foro Italico he also executed bronze sculptures. Our plaster could possibly be a bozzetto for that commission. See Alfonso Panzetta, 'Eterni Atleti, l'immagine dello sport nella Scultura Italiana tra 1896 e 1960', Bologna, 2005, figures 116 and 117. During his career as a sculptor Bellini worked at several public commissions in Italy and abroad. |
