| GIOVANNI BATTISTA BRUSTOLON (Venice 1712 - 1796) a) THE DOGE ON THE BUCINTORO; b) THE DOGE VISITING THE CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA DELLA SALUTE A pair of etchings, partly engraved, from the series of the ' Feste Ducali ', 1763-1766, after Canaletto. Succi 61 and 64. Very good impressions of the second state of four, with Furlanetto's address and the number; with margins, faint centerfolds, lightly foxed and with minor flaws, mainly in the margins. Succi 61: watermark: fleur-de-lis in a crowned shield; to the platemark 453 x 570 mm, the entire sheet measuring 522 x 647 mm. Succi 64: watermark: three crescents; to the platemark 447 x 572 mm, the entire sheet measuring 497 x 658 mm. According to Giannantonio Moschini (1773-1840) Brustolon was a pupil of Giuseppe Wagner and a friend of Pietro Antonio Novelli. He was a sensitive reproductive etcher and the series of the 'Feste Ducali' is his most impressive and celebrated work.
