ADOLFO DE CAROLIS (Montefiore dell'Aso 1874 - Rome 1928) HELEONORA AUGUSTA SIBYLLA (Portrait of the artist's daughter Eleonora)
|
A painter, xylographer, illustrator and photographer, Adolfo de Carolis graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna. In 1892 he moved to Rome, coming into conctact with the Italian Pre-Raphaelite milieu. The English Pre-Raphaelitism and the Italian Primitives were major components of De Carolis's style and he was also a fervent admirer of the Renaissance, as this print, so much influenced by Durer's woodcuts, shows. |
