DUTCH ARTIST, late 18th century A STANDING PEASANT SEEN FROM THE BACK AND TWO STUDIES OF A SLEEPING DOG Black chalk, brush and brown wash, heightened with white chalk, on blue paper. 245 x 245 mm. Watermark, partial, '..DER..'. Inscribed 'D'. Two attributions in pencil on the verso, by two different modern hands: 'hollandaise n° 122' and 'Londonio'.
The attribution to Francesco Londonio is, in my opinion, unconvincing. So I rather prefer to attribute this fine and sensitive drawing to an anonymous Dutch artist of the eighteenth century, with high artistic skills.
