After studying with Alessandro Marini in Rome, Jacovacci worked in the atelier of Alessandro Capalti. Later, in Paris, Mariano Fortuny introduced him to the French dealer Goupil, for whom Jacovacci provided easel paintings. Returned to Rome, he became, until the end of his life, director of the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna. Jacovacci was a successful painter of historical and genre subjects and also an influential critic and writer. |
