LUDOVICO LAMBERTI Attributed to (Venice c. 1650 - c. 1712) COUNTRY LANDSCAPE WITH BRIDGE AND TWO FIGURES
Pen and brush with brown ink, heightened with white, on blue paper with watermark 'Crowned shield and letters VCRNO'; 210 x 306 mm. The attribution of the present sheet to Lamberti has been kindly proposed by Christian Lapeyre, who suggested for comparison the group of landscape drawings by the artist in the Accademia Carrara, Bergamo. Lodovico Lamberti's name appears in the important list 'Fraglia' of Venetian painters from 1687 until 1711. A landscape painter, Lamberti produced easel paintings and frescoes. He was much appreciated in his time and his name is listed in the 1700 edition of the 'Guida de' forestieri' as an important landscape painter, cited together with Luca Carlevarijs and Francesco Bassi.
