Born into a poor family, Raffaele Postiglione began his formal artistic instruction at the Academy of Naples under Costanzo Angelini. He then travelled to Rome, remaining until 1848. During this Roman period he was especially interested in the art of Raffaello and Poussin. Postiglione worked mainly in Naples, teaching at the Neapolitan Academy. |
