GIUSEPPE PURICELLI (Gallarate 1825 - Casirate d'Adda 1894) TWO ANCIENT WARRIORS FIGHTING IN A WOOD
|
Puricelli studied at the Brera Academy under Hayez and Sogni. He was a friend of Domenico and Gerolamo Induno, and influenced by them. During his career he moved from romantic and historical paintings to the Lombard Impressionism. In his studio in Milan, Puricelli taught painting to Pelizza da Volpedo from 1884 to 1886. This drawing is a fine example of his sensitiveness as romantic landscapist. |
