| GIUSEPPE SABATELLI (Florence 1813 - 1843) FIGURES AROUND A TABLE Pen and black ink; 190 x 250 mm. Inscribed in black chalk 'Giuseppe / Sabatelli'. Giuseppe Sabatelli demonstrated his aptitude for art at an early age. He studied under his father Luigi, in Milan. In 1833, on the invitation of Leopold II granduke of Tuscany, Giuseppe left Milan for Florence. He also visited Venice. In 1839 he was appointed professor at the Milanese and Florentine Academies. In 1840 Giuseppe executed the painting 'Farinata degli Uberti at the Battle of Serchio, his masterpiece, commissioned by Nicolò Puccini. |
