FILADELFO SIMI (Lucca 1849 - Florence 1923) PORTRAIT OF AN UMBRIAN PEASANT WOMAN
|
Taught at the Florentine Accademia, Filadelfo Simi was, then, a pupil of Jean-Leon Gérome in Paris, where he stayed for four years. He also travelled in Spain and Switzerland to deepen his artistic education. In 1882 Simi settled in Florence. His paintings, influenced by the French Realism, are nevertheless rooted in the Tuscan school of 'Postmacchiaioli'. He was a sensitive artist and his works are rare. |
