MIGITA TOSHIHIDE (1863 - 1928) A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN RESTING (Minazuki: the 6th month of the old moon calendar)
Woodcut, 1901, from the series 'Beautiful women in the twelve months', published by Akiyama Buemon. Signed 'Toshihide', artist's red seal. Very good impression and colour, with embossing and mica patterns on the 'obi'. Generally in very good condition. 'Oban', 370 x 250 mm.

Migita Toshihide studied printmaking with Tsukioka Yoshitoshi. He designed actor prints and Sino-Japanese War prints in the 1890s; he designed also series of beautiful women and newspaper illustrations.
