On verso two studies of male figures, half-bust, in black chalk heightened with white. 250 x 215 mm. Trecourt was a student under Diotti at the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, where he met Il Piccio, with whom he remained friend all his life, creating a romantic current within the significant school of Bergamo, which included other followers of Diotti, like Francesco Coghetti and Enrico Scuri. In 1842 Trecourt went to Pavia to become director of the Scuola Civica di Pittura, and his innovative style decisively influenced painters of the next generations like Federico Faruffini and Tranquillo Cremona. |
