lente

CESARE VIAZZI (Alessandria 1857 - Predosa 1943) STILL LIFE WITH PEARS
Black chalk, stumped; signed 'Viazzi Cesare', 355 x 240 mm.

Viazzi studied at the school of drawing of Cavanna in Novi Ligure, then he was a pupil of Gastaldi at the Accademia Albertina in Turin. In 1893 he was appointed professor at the Accademia Ligustica, in Genoa, and in the Ligurian town he mainly worked, following realist painting in the first, then moving towards Symbolism, but always staying within the confines of an academic classicism. Within the first decade of the twentieth century Viazzi completely stopped to paint.
