GIACOMO ZOBOLI
Modena 1681 - Rome 1767

After a training in Modena with Francesco Stringa, with whom he worked on the frescoes of the Palazzo Ducale, Zoboli came to Bologna in 1709 to work with Giovan Gioseffo Dal Sole. Between 1712 and 1713, he moved to Rome, where he became a member of the Accademia dei Virtuosi al Pantheon in 1718 and of the Accademia di San Luca in 1725. Zoboli was mainly active in Rome for both ecclesiastical and private commissions, protected by Cardinal Neri Maria Corsini, the nephew of Pope Clement XII. As well as in Rome he was also active in Florence and in Brescia. Along with Giovanni Paolo Pannini in 1747 he compiled the inventory of the Sacchetti collection, purchased by Pope Benedict XIV to form the initial core of the nascent Pinacoteca Capitolina.
