Delitala obtained a degree in accounting in Sassari and in 1907 he moved to Milan, working at the company Duchesne, specialized in advertising posters. He worked first as an accountant and then as a graphic designer. He returned to his birthplace, Orani, in 1911 and produced some works for the local Municipality; then he moved to Cagliari, where he attended the best known artists of the time as Figari, Floris, Dessy, Cabras, Manca, Sassu. In the following years Delitala exhibited in major Italian cities: Bologna, Venice, Rome, Turin, Milan. In 1924 he won the competition for the decoration of the House Council Chamber of the Town Hall of Nuoro and from the second half of the twenties he is a recognized artist invited to the most important artistic events such as the Venice Biennale and the Quadrennial of Rome. In the thirties Delitala devotes himself to printmaking, specializing in woodcut, and in 1938 he won, at the Venice Biennale, the first prize for engraving. At the end of the Second World War he was appointed Dean of the Art Institute of Sassari, a position he held until 1949. Same assignment he has in Palermo, a position he maintained until 1961.
