Dario Wolf completed his advanced studies in composition and nude drawing with honors in Rome, at the English Academy of Fine Arts, under the guidance of Sigismondo Lipinskj. A master of symbolist engraving, he made his debut as a wood engraver in 1921 with Furor animae and established himself as an etcher. He was part of the 'Gruppo Romano Incisori Artisti', composed of twenty-five Italian and foreign artists, until its dissolution. Wolf devoted himself with love and rare skill to metal engraving and was one of the very few to dedicate himself to steel engraving with the maniera nera technique. His drypoints were also very effective. For several years he was the regional secretary of the 'Incisori d'Italia per le Tre Venezie'. A painter of great commitment, he used the most diverse techniques: sanguine, pastel, tempera, oil, etc. He also executed large frescoes in churches and public and private buildings and devoted himself to teaching.
